Indian national arrested at Dhaka airport with 6kg of gold
Customs officials have arrested an Indian national in possession of 6kg of gold at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The detainee, Soumik Datta, arrived aboard a Regent Airlines flight from Singapore in the early hours of Monday, Customs Deputy Commissioner Othello Chowdhury.
“The gold was being carried in a water dispenser. Small balls of gold were hidden in the dispenser’s compressor.”
The total weight of the gold was approximately 6kg, the official said. Customs is currently investigating why Datta came to Bangladesh.
