Barisal : Nurse admitted to hospital, Husband sent to jail

Nurse detained with child released from police custody and admitted at hospital after agitation procession of nurses association held abstaining from duty at SBMCH.
On other hand Md. Shah Alam, husband of the nurse Eliza Begum, sent to Jail on Friday noon under section 54.
The hospital’s director (in-charge) ABM Kadir, acknowledged the facts.
Earlier the nurses association started agitation rally at the hospital abstaining from duty from 8:00 PM Thursday demanding immediate release of their detained colleague Eliza and her child.
Police rushed to the hospital immediately and after talking with the nurses association leaders agreed to release Eliza with her child as no case was lodged in this connection..
However Md. Shah Alam, husband of the staff nurse Eliza Begum, was remained under police custody at Barisal Kotwali police station as SBMCH authourity lodged a generall diary in connection of the incident, said Farhad Sardar, assistant commissioner of Barisal Metropolitan Police.
So Sub Inspector M A Quddus as complainant lodged a case under section 54 accusing him for creating public nuisense and sent him to Jail through producing before the court on Friday noon, said Atauar Rahman, officer in charge (investigation) of Kotwali police station.
Mustafizur Rahman, leader of the nurses association and ‘brother’ ( male staff nurse)of SBMCH, said detained staff nurse Eliza and her 8-month old child Samir were released from police custody at about 11-30 PM Thursday and admitted at female medicine and child ward of SBMCH respectively on early Friday.
On other hand during work abstentions of nurses on duty at the hospital, hundreds of admitted patients of the hospital suffered and death of at least one patient due to negligence of treatment alleged by the attendant of a patient.
Sheuli Begum, attendant of the patient Rahima Begum, came from Chandkathi under Keshobpur of Baufal upazila of Patuakhali district, said her cousin Rahima was admitted at Gyne ward of the hospital and she failed to get any treatment when her condition became severe and died during strike of the nurses on Thursday night.
Selina Aktar, secretary of Swadhinata Nurses Association (SWANAP), all of their members ending agitation programme returned to their work after release of Aliza and her son.
Mentionable Police in Barisal on Thursday afternoon detained Eliza Begum, a female nurse of the cabin block of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital with her 8-month old son Samir and her husband Md. Shah Alam after they assaulted pediatrician Dr. Faizul Haque Panir at the outdoor of hospital for refusing to break serial while examining patients.
